Using Telehealth

All of the sessions with Marie are provided via Microsoft Teams. This is called telehealth. It can be daunting enough seeing a new psychologist for the first time so here is some information about using telehealth to help with addressing any concerns you might have about it.

What you'll need

  • A computer/laptop equipped with a webcam and speakers. Some computers have a built in webcam.

  • A reliable internet connection

  • Microsoft Teams software installed. This software is free to install (see below)

2

Other Considerations

  • Try to be in a quiet and comfortable environment (consider ventilation and heating).

  • It is preferable to be alone. People usually feel more comfortable in therapy when they are sure that their personal information and concerns are private.

  • Some people like to have a pet with them. This is not only ok, it is encouraged if it helps you to feel more comfortable.

  • If you are unable to be alone for any reason (e.g., when children are in your care), Marie can discuss this with you during your appointment to assist you in getting the most from your therapy.

  • Have a drink bottle or glass of water close by

Final Checklist before your appointment

  • About 10 minutes before your appointment, open the email Marie sent you with the link to your microsoft teams meeting.

  • Click on the link and wait in the waiting room.

  • At the time of your appointment, Marie will open the meeting and the session can commence.

Technical Difficulties

  • If you are having trouble with your computer, internet connection or using microsoft teams that is ok! Marie will call you at the time of your appointment and guide you through the next steps. It is also possible to use other software if you would prefer.

  • Microsoft Teams can be downloaded here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-teams/group-chat-software
