MARIE-ANN ROBERTSON - PSYCHOLOGIST

Marie has been working as a registered psychologist for over 10 years. She has worked in private practice, hospital settings and for not-for-profit organisations. Marie is a warm and empathic psychologist who focuses on meeting people where they are and building strong and supportive therapeutic relationships with her clients.
Marie is highly experienced in delivering a broad range of therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy and person-centred therapy. Marie does not use a cookie-cutter approach with her clients, but instead will listen to each person’s individual needs and circumstances and tailor the approach to therapy accordingly.
Marie strongly believes that therapists are not the ‘experts’ and that therapy is about supporting people to learn more about themselves and what works for them. Marie has a passion for working with people who are struggling with their past or current stressors and are looking to learn more about their reactions to stress and how to build their tolerance and capacity to cope.
In her life outside therapy, Marie leads a relatively simple life. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, preferably outdoors. Marie likes to read or watch tv to relax and is always up for a new recommendation. When doing chores she will always have a podcast playing and she tries to do a bit of yoga each day. Marie believes in the benefits of daily mindfulness/meditation, but doesn’t get around to it as often as she’d like.
